We bought this microwave when our old one broke. We have limited counter space, so the size is perfect. We don't often use the preset times for defrosting/reheating, as they don't seem to work for the amount of food we put in (thus the reduction in stars). For the most part, we manually set the times and things heat/defrost great. The one preset we still want to try is the popcorn setting. Our old microwave consistently burnt our popcorn, so we're looking hoping this one works better! I bought this Microwave to replace an older Sharp model. I have had very good luck with Sharp Microwaves and this new one is no different. It's a very good compact microwave for one or two people. It was very easy to set the clock and use right out of the box. I love the look of it. The buttons are very simple to use. I don't use my microwave for cooking that much, I use it mostly for reheating and defrosting. I am a single mom with one teenage son who never eats at the same time as I do so it comes in very handy. I do sometimes cook bacon and pototoes in it. It makes great baked potatoes. It you have more than two people in your family you might want to get a larger oven. I have been using Sharp microwaves for many, many years, they make a great product. I am not fond of this particular microwave because of the loud clunky sound of the door opening. Poor in my opinion. I can't believe that I will probably put up with this for years as I use my microwave several times a day. My husband just complained that the start button is hidden on the user display among the other buttons. Seems like there should some sort of user standards for display input. Like Power buttons in the upper left corner. Most-used buttons should be large. maybe in a special color. I like the web 2.0 look that is developing on user interfaces. No user interface should make the user feel stupid is my thought. I asked my husband what was the brand name and he said "Sharp" so even if cheap I think Sharp ought to protect the brand image. But I see that I am in the minority of opinions here. My microwave arrived today - it was the Sharp R model. Arrived very quickly and I was thrilled with the speedy shipping. I can always count on Amazon for quick delivery.

You can imagine my disappointment when the microwave door wouldn't open no matter what we did. The booklet was inside the microwave so we had to pry the door with a knife to see what we were doing wrong. As it turned out I called Sharp and they gave me some names to call for a repair. The 1st place I called said they would need the microwave for a week, the second couldn't be sure how long it would be away from here. Finally I called the third place in Franklin, MA and we brought it to them. When we got inside the repair person met us with a rolling cart, brought the item in the back and within 10 minutes had it fixed. It was just a missing part. So now the microwave is in my kitchen and I tried it as soon as I arrived home and it works perfectly. Great size, lots of power.

Its a small compact microwave with an attractive black finish that hides finger prints better than the white magic chef that I had before... This unit actually holds more food than it looks like it can and considering how UPS tossed it over my gated fence leaving it on my front lawn in the RAIN all day until I got home from work that night instead of leaving it at my side door like I've told UPS a hundred times to do, this little microwave has to be unbreakable...
